We had a nice, long weekend with the Independence Day Holiday! Bryan got off work at noon on Friday and drove up with his parents to see his aunt and uncle and grandmother in NC for the afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, I had a work event (and needed to get some more hours in for work), so I stayed back. I got off around 4:00 and drove around, picked up a few items at Old Navy (great sale on t-shirts and other basics this weekend!), then stopped by the grocery store.
A couple of our friends, Dave & Rachel, stopped by for some coffee and an old episode of Chuck (love that show), and we just hung out for a few hours. It was a lot of fun. The only thing that would’ve made it better was if Bryan were with us. They left around 9:30 (Dave still had to work out after they got home), and I hung out a bit till Bryan got home.
Saturday, we slept in, walked about 1mile downtown, then finished our walk (3 more miles) with Bryan’s friend Joshua at his house. After that, we cooled off in the pool, got Chinese carry-out, and watched the new BBC Emma! It’s great, if you haven’t seen it yet!!
Sunday, we headed out to Bryan’s folks house after Sunday School and had a cookout. It was a great time with family and friends. We spent most of the day in their gazebo. It’s a beautiful, screened-in gazebo with 2 ceiling fans (we like to tease that it’s a pavilion because his dad built it so big). It’s awesome! After dark, we headed to downtown Easley for their fireworks display. It’s a pretty good show and such a quaint location!
Monday, I got up and made French Breakfast Puffs (from the Pioneer Woman’s cookbook) and added blueberries to them (Bryan’s mom gave me 3 big bags of blueberries! YEAH!). Delicious! Had them for breakfast again today! Bryan mowed the lawn, and other than that, we just chilled all day long! It was a nice break! Oh, and we went to Lowe’s and got paint for the last bare walls in our house: living room, front hallway, stairwell, and upstairs hallway. It’ll be “Oregon Coast” on the walls and “Lyndhurst Estate Cream” on the trim, which is the same color trim we have pretty much everywhere else in the house. I can hardly wait to get it on the walls!
And now, we’re back to the daily grind! Fortunately, I don’t have school this week, so it’s a time we can catch up and get reorganized before the last few weeks of school hit hard. We’re hosting Shepherding Group (small groups from church) at our house this Wednesday. Then we’re hosting our 4th grade Sunday School class party on Saturday around lunch: pizza and brownie sundaes on the menu – plus fruits and veggies, of course. So, we’ll probably have to wait on the painting till Saturday evening. That, or wait till next week: it’ll give Bryan something to do while I’m in class. 🙂
Hope you all had a happy and safe Independence Day! Praise God for the freedoms we have in this nation!
