Early Morning

Lots to do today. I was up at 4:30AM! Yes, folks, I was actually out of bed that early! I had to take someone to the airport, so it was an early morning. I got home about 5:30AM and was determined not to go back to bed, so I did some yoga (which felt great), got cleaned up and ready for the day, and went downstairs to make breakfast: mixed berry quinoa with agave and cinnamon again! Yum! I think I could eat this every day! I took the time to sit down and eat my breakfast with a cup of cafe au lait (sweetened with agave nectar and a touch of cinnamon) and read John 5 (going through the gospels asking myself “What is the gospel?” in each passage).

I packed my lunch, watered the garden and flowerbeds, and got everything together for Girls on the Run tonight. It’s their practice 5K tonight. We’re treating them with some extra snacks (I bought a bag of apples and nectarines, and then I have some trail mix bars and gingersnaps). And we made a poster for each girl to hang around the track (encouragement to keep running), full of glitter and stickers. Hopefully I’ll get to run with them. Hmm…I should’ve made a poster for me and Carmine (the other coach) to keep us running too! Oh well. I’m just praying it doesn’t rain them out of their big practice run.

Lunch is spaghetti squash with marinara sauce and red pepper strips. Then I brought several snacks: an apple with a tablespoon of almond butter, some homemade trail mix, and a bag of cut strawberries. I’ll have to make sure I get some greens in tonight, since I’m loading up on red foods today.

So, it’s not even 9AM, and I feel like I’ve already had a productive day. I should do this more often!
