Women’s Health Magazine puts one of these books out every year. (FYI, Men’s Health Magazine does one too. You’d think they’re connected or something.)
343 pages. This is probably one of the best overall fitness guides I’ve seen…EVER. So many exercises, helpful information, and recipes. It’s an all-in-one guide to everything you need to know to get (and keep) the body of your dreams. I picked it up at T.J. Maxx (are you noticing a trend of where I shop?) for $4. ***Tip: If you buy last year’s book, the information hasn’t changed all that much, and you can find it at a discount.***
Okay, now for the overview:
Part One: Getting Started – 6 chapters that teach you to look at numbers you should know about yourself and that give you basic overview of workouts and fitness information (including a 31 day guide to staying fit over the holidays).
Part Two: Total-Body Strength – 4 chapters about strength-training, including body tests and all kinds of exercises to do (including great pictures that show you what to do).
Part Three: Food Rules – 6 chapters about what to eat and why, including some scrumptious looking recipes!
Part Four: Target Practice – 4 chapters with more exercises, stepping it up a notch…or three.
Part Five: Weight Loss – 4 chapters teaching you the math and extra tips behind losing weight.
Part Six: Maintenance – 5 chapters showing you essential gear to own, healthful behaviors, advice, and bonus recipes.
Index – very detailed.
Overall, I love this book and can’t wait to try some of these exercises (not to mention the “Ditch 10 Pounds in 4 Weeks” section! We’ll see what I can glean from that.
